Fund A Book
In December 2006, Lacey High School PTSA launched a new long-term fundraising program. As the cost of books, journals, and subscriptions escalates - far surpassing the rate of the library budget allocations - it becomes harder and harder for the library to provide the breadth and depth of collections needed to support the high school’s curriculum. To meet those needs the PTSA in partnership with the Media Center is turning to the community it serves to supplement the Media Center’s annual budget for new books. Working together we have planned a new program called the "Book Donor Program”. The purpose of the “Book Donor Program” is to build a financial base for the sole purpose of providing funds for new book acquisitions in any subject.
How will the Book Donor Program work? The procedure is simple. A donation of $10.00 or more will help purchase a new book. The library will then choose a book from a pre-selected collection, and a bookplate will be placed inside recognizing the individual or organization. The donor and honoree names will be placed on an announcement board inside the library as well. Students, staff members, parents, alumni and community members may become book donors. Donations may be made in honor of, in memory of, in appreciation of, in celebration of, in recognition of an individual, a team, or club or simply to benefit the library collection.
Book donations are a fitting way to honor someone who has been affiliated with the high school and to support the library media center. Checks are to be written to the LTHS PTSA and noted for "THE BOOK DONOR PROGRAM".
